How To Find The Most Reliable Charities In The U.S.?
2. BBB Wise Giving Alliance
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance, part of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, reviews 1,300 national charities for free. Every two years, they check these charities against 20 "accountability" standards, covering governance, oversight, and effectiveness, among other things. However, they don't use a star or letter rating system. Charities that meet BBB standards can pay a fee, based on their size, to use the BBB charity seal on their website and fundraising materials.
